Peer Advisors and Mentors Program
Established in 1992, the Peer Advisors and Mentors (PAM) program has worked to provide a collaborative learning experience that assists with the retention of students through mentoring and leadership.
One of the goals of PAM is to assist in enhancing the leadership skills of the first-year mentees. This is accomplished through pairing mentees with mentors who exhibit high academic standards and excellent leadership qualities, providing funds to help students attend the National Student Leadership Conference or other related conferences, and engaging them in other leadership-related activities.
Through a variety of programs and leadership opportunities, the PAM program works to build a community environment that helps to nurture and foster the growth and skills of its mentees. Mentees are aided in connecting not only with their mentors, but also with other mentors and mentees, as well as the University community as a whole.
All in all, mentees find great satisfaction from the development of their academic, leadership, and personal skills. Many have left with a greater sense of their roles and responsibilities as leaders and transform that awareness into an eagerness to act for the benefit of others.
