Program Successes

The 2008 Princeton Review of the Best 366 Colleges listed the Academic Skills Center as an effective and excellent support system at the University of Richmond.

On a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 representing the highest level of satisfaction, a mean score of 4.15 was achieved on the learning outcome of “Students will express satisfaction with tutoring.”

The retention rates of first-year mentees of the Peer Advisors and Mentors (PAM) program have ranged from 93 to 100 percent throughout the existence of PAM.

Of the 2008-09 first-year PAM participants, six of the mentees were inducted into the prestigious Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society that recognizes a high (3.5 gradepoint average and above) level of scholarship achieved during the first year at the University.

Of the 2008-09 first-year mentees surveyed, 100 percent of these students were involved in one or more activities, 57 percent were involved in one or more leadership positions, 19 percent were involved in research, and 24 percent received honors. Notably, 90 percent of these students were selected to leadership positions for the 2009-10 academic year.
