Appointment Policies

The Academic Skills Center provides academic support to all full-time students (i.e., undergraduate, graduate, etc.). Operating from a holistic vantage point, the Center incorporates counseling and academic skills (i.e., test preparation, critical reading, note-taking, critical thinking, information processing, concentration, time management, etc.) via techniques that address the academic performance of students and their social adjustment to the University environment.

Appointment policies are as follows:

  • Students are permitted to make only one appointment per day unless an appointment is in a different subject area.
  • Students who wish to cancel an appointment should do so at least 24 hours in advance; otherwise, you must contact the Academic Skills Center at (804) 289-8545 or (804) 289-8626.
  • Students who "No Show" for two appointments will not be able to use the services of the Academic Skills Center for the remainder of the academic year.
  • Students who cancel an appointment within 2 hours before the actual appointment will accumulate one-half of a "No-Show".
  • Students who know they are going to be late should call the Academic Skills Center at (804) 289-8545 or (804) 289-8626. If you are over ten minutes late, another student will be permitted to take your space.
